Canton, First Monday...

Today I went out to First Monday to spend some time with my dad and sell some odds and ends. We did fairly well, but there just aren't as many people who stop by like they used to.  It's not in the center of all of the Canton traffic, but not too far down the highway.  We ended up selling some old 120 film cameras that my dad had collected over the years.  Plus, we were able to talk about the upcoming Dallas weddings that we will be shooting together this year.  It's such a blast to work with my dad.  We click so well together when we shoot weddings.  We've shot one wedding in Canton, TX and the rest have been Dallas weddings or McKinney Weddings.  We have three weddings booked for the Bingham house this summer!

We also discussed the possibility of shooting some green screen photos.  He has some awesome landscape photos that would make great backgrounds.  It's just a matter of finding the right location.

Today is also my grandpa's birthday, so I plan on shooting some birthday party photos tonight.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, the weather is perfect outside today!!

Friday Lunch date with a friend and Monday Meeting...

Today for lunch, I had a fabulous time meeting with one my best friends.  She is such an extraordinary woman. I am grateful for having her in my life.  We chatted about life and had so much fun.  Sometimes I wish there was more time in a day... even though our one hour lunch turned into a two hour gab-fest.

I am looking forward to meeting a possible new client on Monday.  Wedding interviews are always so much fun.  It's great getting to know so many new people and possibly working with them to capture their memories in a unique and beautiful way.  :-)

Marketing and Advertising your business...
I have been the subject of numerous advertising calls and mail recently.  It seems as though small companies are popping up everywhere to "inform" us small business owners of the need to increase traffic to our sites.  I had a call yesterday that kept telling me that they would work within my budget.  After informing them that I spent about 2,000 in advertising last year alone, they offered me 2 packages - one for 1500 and the second for 2,000.  It's funny how they threw amounts so close to the amount that I spent to guarantee that I would be listed at the top of Google.  After telling them that it was out of my budget, they had the confidence to offer me a package with the same elements for under 1 grand.  I declined.

Today I attended a seminar on making money on the internet.  Don't you just love those sly companies that offer you something for free to get you in the door.  Ok, I know, its a sales gimmic and everyone does this from time to time.  However, there are also tricky sales techniques that are used in large groups to get everyone to sign their contract.  Me. I was there for the free lunch and was curious about their approach to advertising on the internet.  Anyone could use tips who already has a site, unless you already know it all.  It turned out to be an entire sales trap to buying a website and 24/7 support.  They knew all the psych techniques and managed to score some business with the less informed.  I went online while they were speaking and found so many horrible reviews on this company.  If anyone reads this, please always look up the reviews on a company prior to signing your life away.

If you need any tips, please feel to email me.  I don't mind sharing what I know.

As far as photography, business has been a little slow.... I appreciate referrals and will give you credit for them!

I have booked 4 weddings in the last couple of weeks, have a wedding interview coming up, and will be shooting family photos on November 7th.

Life these days...
I have been blessed with several opportunities to meet new people and am excited about photographing their weddings!  In addition, I have a couple shoot this weekend!  I thank everyone who has been referring me to new customers.  It seems as though word-of-mouth advertising has worked much better for my business than paid advertising.

Valentine's day is quickly approaching... if you are thinking about proposing to the woman of your dreams and would like a photographer to capture those precious moments... I will be offering a proposal package that can be combined with an engagement package.  Please email or call for details!

Destiny Photos is now offering DVD Slideshows.  These creatively designed videos are synchronized with your favorite songs.  We can use your images to produce the slideshow or add the DVD slideshow to any package.  Pricing will be posted soon, or you can call for details.

We are also offering print on Canvas, mounted, and framed.

Calendars may also be purchased for 2009 with any photoshoot.

Take care!

Happy New Year!!!!
I hope everyone has an awesome new year in 2009!  Call that friend or family member that you haven't spoken to in ages, follow through on a new year's resolution, and remember your faith and values.

Life can throw many obstacles your way, but without a challenge, life can become mundane and boring.  Defeat those obstacles and find the path that your heart has been searching for.

Need a wedding photographer?  Call me today and I will meet you, show my work, get to know you and your needs, and discuss my style.

Are you looking for a lifetime photographer?  Shop no further.  My passion is working with people and catching their memories so they can share them with family, friends, children, and one day grand children.  I love shooting them all.... children, pets, family, couples, engagements, weddings, bridals, sports, sport teams, individuals, seniors, and more.

In December of 2008, I had the opportunity of working with several families, a wonderful couple, scheduled a wedding for 2009, did bridals, and baby photos.  I'm excited about what 2009 will bring!!

Sincerely,
