Oh MY, what a Busy weekend!! Photo shoot on Saturday and the Bridal Show today!
The Photoshoot was a total success!  The models were wonderful!  We created a classy Wedding look and then went a little on the edge with makeup and wardrobe.  I can't count how many cars honked, people whistled, and other stopped to watch the shoot.  It was amazing!

The Bridal Show was a bit slow, but since it was my first one, I didn't mind.  I gained a lot of experience putting this together with my awesome friend Samantha.  I LOVE working with her!  We spoke to many different people and received lots of compliments on our work.  Even if we don't get any business from the event, we had an absolute blast!  However, it would be nice to book at least one shoot.  It was so great talking to so many people and working the presentation with Kim.  She owns an eyebrow threading business in Downtown Dallas called eyebrowenergy.com.  I met her recently and am looking forward to working with her in the future.  She set up the stage with her threading, I shot the photos, and Samantha did the makeovers.  It was awesome!

We also drew two names for our drawing.  We gave away a Bridal or Engagement session plus a Bachelorette Party Package!

Modeling Shoot 2/20/2009 and Customer Kuddos!!
The first photo shoot for our project was a success!!  We met with 5 models, did 5 makeovers, and photographed head shots.  The models were fantastic and were easy to work with.  They will definitely be used in future shoots.  Samantha did an incredible job with different looks.  I am so stoked to be working with her. Wooo hoooo - I finally found a makeup artist and a great friend at the same time!  We will be putting together an awesome set-up for the bridal show this Sunday. I can't wait!!

Now for the customer kuddos!  I received an email today with a review on the job I did recently with a family shoot.  It is from the Grandmother.  Here it is:

Just wanted you to know how WONDERFUL the Pictures of my Grandson and his Family turned out.

This is the First time they have had Family Pictures taken and it was so much better than a studio.

I remember trying to get Studio Pictures of my Family and after about 30 seconds my kids were through.

I love the way you make it so interesting for the little ones and the smiles OMG you’d never get that in a studio.

The one of Cohen in Black and white with his Blue eyes is Great and the ones of Willa in her Red Dress

Are so good…. It was like you just sat her on the Rock and started taking pictures of her every move.

I just can’t say enough about how proud I am of the pictures.

Models, a Photo Shoot, and a Bridal Shower!!!
Wow!  This week has been so busy, I have hardly had a chance to sit back and think about it.  Samantha and I have conducted several interviews to meet with possible models for the upcoming creative shoots.  We have met some amazing individuals and are extremely excited to work with them.  Our first photo shoot will take place in Ft. Worth this Saturday.  We have selected two models to appear in the first of several model shoots.  We will be transforming these into portfolios to show future models what type of work Destiny Photos can do, modeling agencies what type of work the models can do, and to provide all parties involved a chance of enhancing their portfolio.  Pricing for these types of sessions will be posted after the first few shoots.  Unfortunately the deadline for signing up for a modeling interview has passed.  If we decide we need select individuals to participate in a future shoot, we will post that information on the site.

We are still looking for costume designers, so if you are one or know of one who is in need of some photos of their designs, please send them our way.

The Bridal show will take place this Sunday at the Garland Special Events Center off of N. Garland Ave. and George Bush.  The address is: 4999 Naaman Forest Blvd. Garland, TX 75040 from 12:00 to 5:00pm... Bring the Entire Wedding party and stay for a Fabulous Fashion Show presented by David's Bridal and Anonymously Yours... Entertainment... Door Prizes... Great Vendors...

Destiny Photos will be there!!  We will be setting up with some of our pictures, Wedding Album, and will be ready to book your wedding on the spot.  Please come see us!!

Creative Ideas for Future Photography Sessions...Looking for Models, Costume Designers, and Hair Stylists...
My friend Samantha and I got together this past friday to discuss some makeup and photography ideas.  She is a makeup artist that I met while working for the Gaylord at a seasonal job over the holidays.  We had an amazing time working together and realized that we could take it further.  What we decided to do is enhance her makeover portfolio and enhance the creative edge to my photography by offering models, costume designers, and hairstylists a way to enhance their portfolios as well.  We posted an ad on Craigslist and within 5 minutes, recieved our first phone call!!  So far we have interviewed several models and have more lined up.  We will be gathering information and finding out what types of photo sessions they would be interested in.

Currently, we are in need of a Costume Designer.  We had one lined up for today, but he was a no show.  So, if there is anyone who is serious about needing a CD for their portfolio and would like to share some of their costumes, even if its to have photos in order to resale their products, please let us know.  The only cost involved would be $10 for the CD.  The owner of a CD would recieve full personal copy-rights to use the photos for personal use only.

We have a cut-off date for model interviews set at February 15th, 2009.  If you are interested in modeling, you will find the form at www.destinyphotos.com/models.html

If you are a costume designer, you can email or call.

Thanks!!

Today was a good day...

Today I spent most of the day with my best friend.  I've known her for 14 years and she has been an amazing companion.  It was great catching up and even better when I received an email with the best opportunity I have ever had.  Sharing it with her meant the world to me.  Thank you for being there Katie.

I also booked another wedding for this year!  It seems there are many blessings to be received in 2009.  :-)

Wedding Interviews with possible clients...
I love meeting new people and part of the passion I have for photography is getting to know others. Having a wedding interview is one of my favorite parts of the wedding process.  It's great getting know others and sure, wonderful if they decide that I am a good fit for them.  However, the time I spend with them is great either way.  Yesterday I met some fantastic people and today received a call back from one of the interviews.  I am so excited that they chose me to be there for their wedding! Photography is definitely a competitive market, but at the same time rewarding.  Thanks for choosing Destiny Photos!

Superbowl XLIII -- Cardinals vs. Steelers
Ok, so that was a pretty incredible game.  Did you see that 100 yard touchdown? It looked like Harrison cracked his neck for that one!  I was rooting for the Cardinals and thought they had it with Fitzgerald's touchdown.... but the steelers stole the game with the Holme's toe touch. wow... that was a close one.  It was a good game overall!

I couldn't help noticing the photographers also ;-) - wow, some of them looked like they almost got trampled!  I bet it would be exciting to be there, right in the middle catching some of those action photos!!  Now that would be awesome!

I hope everyone had a fantastic superbowl time!!

If you would like to respond to any of my blogs, feel free to email me and I will post your questions/answers or comments in future blogs.  Thanks for reading!!
